More than 70 people were reported to have been killed in an explosion in an ammunition factory in southern Yemen on Monday.

According to a resident of the area, the explosion took place when local people swarmed into the building to steal ammunition, after government security forces withdrew from the town of Jaar in the province of Abyan.

Southern Yemen has become increasingly lawless in
recent years. Al-Qaeda is believed to have a presence there,Beats By Dr. Dre,Scarpe Gucci Outlet, and attacks on security forces occur frequently.

However, since Yemen's President Ali Abdullah Saleh has faced an unprecedented popular protest campaign to end his 32-year rule, government authority in the areas outside the capital appears to have been reduced even further.

Last week the government lost control of the northern city of Sa'ada to an insurgent group,Coach Factory Store, and it has been reported to have ceded swathes of territory in tribal areas such as Marib and al Jawf.

Meanwhile there were no signs of an end to Yemen's political crisis, which has pitted a diverse coalition of student activists, politicians,Coach Outlet Store, tribesmen and parts of the military against Mr Saleh, his supporters and the rest of the security establishment. Informal talks between the two sides were said to have stalled at the weekend.
